May 22 Luncheon event salutes "Cincinnati’s Oldest Advertising Agency and Third Oldest Family-run Agency in the U.S."

CINCINNATI, OH – April 25, 2013 – Earl Holland is this year’s, posthumously named, recipient of AAF Cincinnati’s most prestigious Silver Medal Award. Each year, AAF Cincinnati selects one individual to receive the coveted Silver Medal Award. This award honors individuals who have advanced the industry’s standards for creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.

A family business, Earl’s father, Bill Holland, started the William F. Holland Company in 1937 – handing the reigns to Earl in 1957.  In the early days before television, Earl created, wrote and sold the nation’s first fire safety public service program—FIREFIGHTERS.  Holland wrote and produced 140 shows in New York by NBC Studios. He was successful in syndicating the program in over 225 markets in the United States and Canada.

An idea man, Earl was passionate about helping businesses grow through advertising. His abundance of marketing ideas enabled him to recognize the good ones that produced results for his clients. The client list for Holland Advertising under Earl’s guidance included such Cincinnati businesses as Husman’s Snack Foods, Herschede Jewelers, Stouffer’s Cincinnati Inn, Beverly Hills Supper Club, The Lookout House, Habegger Corporation, Natorp’s, Marmer’s Shoes, Klosterman Baking Company and many, many more.

In the 60’s and 70’s, Holland Advertising’s slogan was “Cincinnati’s Original Advertising Agency.”  At that time, Holland had been in business longer than most advertising agencies since it had originated in 1937. Holland Advertising: Interactive is Cincinnati’s oldest agency, the third oldest family-run agency in the United States.

The AAF Silver Medal Award has served as a crowning achievement in the careers of local professionals for more than 40 years. Earl was a charter member of the National Federation of Advertising Agencies and helped other agencies in the NFAA throughout the U.S.A. by sharing best practices, success stories, marketing ideas and helping one another in new business opportunities.  He was active with the Cincinnati Rotary Club and lived their motto “Service Above Self”.

The May 22 celebratory luncheon at the Radisson in Covington, Kentucky, is open to the public.  Prepaid reservations are required.  For online reservations, visit http://www.aafcincinnati.org/events.  To prepay by cash or check – or for more information – call the AAF Cincinnati office at 513.984.9990.
