AAF-C Congrats to 2016 Silver Medalist: Rick Segal

AAF Cincinnati Names 2016 Silver Medal Recipient: Rick Segal
AAF Cincinnati has named Rick Segal the recipient of its most prestigious honor, the Silver Medal. The award will be presented before a gathering of his peers, friends and family at a luncheon on May 18 at the Hyatt Regency, downtown Cincinnati.
Each year, AAF Cincinnati (formerly Ad Club) selects one individual to receive the coveted Silver Medal Award. This award recognizes persons who have made outstanding contributions to their company, their community and their profession, advancing the industry’s standards for creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. The AAF Silver Medal has been a crowning achievement in careers of local professionals for more than 40 years.
The AAF-C selection committee is made up of past recipients, all celebrated local advertising professionals such as Ron Brill (1988), Bob Temmen (1991), Bill LaWarre (1994), Charlie Powers (1995), Mary Beth Price (2001), Tim Gibson (2003), Bill Fee (2004), Tom Norton (2006), Bonnie White (2009), Mike Dektas (2010), Jack Streitmarter (2011), Gene Fischer (2012), Bill Price (2014), and Michel Keidel (2015). Many are expected to attend the May 18 event.
Rick Segal was the “S” in HSR Business to Business, the agency he co-founded in 1981, where he was CEO for 26 years. He would later merge HSR with Gyro Communications, London, to form GyroHSR, then take on the role of President Worldwide in the rebranded gyro, world’s largest independent business-to-business ad agency. Along the way, Rick helped build the agency from a six-person start-up to a global ideas shop of 600 creative professionals, now with 14 offices in nine countries around the world.
Consistently ahead of the times for “b-to-b” marketing, Rick helped change the conversation from technical and rational to “humanly relevant,” even as he led the way as an early visionary at the inception of the Internet.
President Emeritus of gyro, Rick – in 2014 – assumed the new roles of VP for Advancement and Distinguished Lecturer of Commerce and Vocation at Bethlehem College & Seminary in Minneapolis. Rick is married and has four sons.
The May 18 luncheon at Cincinnati’s Hyatt Regency downtown is open to the public. Prepaid reservations are required. For online reservations, visit www.aafcincinnati.org. To prepay with cash or check or to get more information, interested parties may call the AAF Cincinnati office at 513.984.9990.
